Two policemen and a soldier were injured in a fresh exchange of fire in the forests of Poonch-Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir, as the operation against terrorists holed up in the jungle entered the 14th day on Sunday.
A Pakistani militant Zia Mustafa, who was shifted from Kotbalwal Jail in Jammu to Mendhar in Poonch recently to locate the hideout of infiltrators in the Bhata-Dhurian area, was killed at the encounter spot. His body was retrieved after several hours as heavy firing was going on in the area. The police officials said that the militants opened fire on the joint team of police and Army, in which one soldier and two policemen were injured. They also informed that Mustafa sustained injuries as well.
“Operation is on. Two policemen and an Army soldier were injured,” Jammu-based defence spokesperson told ET. Till now, nine Army men, including two junior commissioned officers, have been killed in this operation. This is one of the longest running operations in the area. The Army has deployed additional forces to nab terrorists.
