Young seal is saved from plastic killer

A young, grey seal was saved from a “slow and painful” death after it was found with a plastic air vent filter stuck round its neck. The young It was spotted by passers-by in the sea off Burnham Overy Staithe, Norfolk, who alerted Sea Life Hunstanton. Vet Christopher Tansley, who removed the object, said it “cut deep into the fat as he grew.”

The seal, recovering at the reserve, has been named Relashio, after a Harry Potter spell used to free people from a trap.

It is being taught to swim upright so it can be released.
