MUMBAI: Mumbai-headquartered arbitration and commercial practice law firm Advani & Co and Pune-based litigation firm Nehru & Co have decided to merge and form a new entity called Advani Nehru & Co, said two persons familiar with the development.
This is the second merger in two years for Advani & Co as the Shashank Garg-promoted New Delhi firm Accendo Law Partner merged with it in 2011. With the latest merger, the firm will have a total strength of over 60 lawyers across three cities.
“There is a vacuum in Pune when it comes to serving local corporate clients and we intend to plug that gap,” said Ranjan Nehru, founder of Nehru & Co. “We will focus on IT, automobile, pharmaceutical, real estate and hospitality companies in Pune,” he added. While the merger will help Advani & Co to tap the Pune market, Nehru & Co will have access to Advani’s infrastructure in Mumbai and New Delhi. “We are in a comfortable position to cater to bigger corporate clients,” said Hiroo Advani, founder and managing partner of Advani & Co. “However, we still have space for one boutique private equity advisory, which will complete our portfolio of services,” he added.
