South Korean tech giant Samsung has reportedly cancelled the launch of its Galaxy S21 Fan Edition (FE) smartphone. According to a report on Korean website DDaily, the ‘Galaxy S21 Fan Edition (FE) Unpacked‘ event – which was scheduled for mid-October – has been dropped. DDaily reported a Samsung Electronics official as saying, “We canceled the Galaxy S21FE online unpack, which was planned for mid-October. We are reviewing the smartphone launch itself.”
Samsung had planned to price the Galaxy S21FE – which would be equipped with the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 AP as the Galaxy S21 series – lower than the Galaxy S21 by making changes to the screen and camera. The report claimed that the move comes as a result of the high demand for the Galaxy Z Flip 3. The company’s latest foldable phone also runs the Snapdragon 888, and uncertainty in the supply of system semiconductors has made keeping up its production difficult.According to rumours, the Galaxy S21 FE was expected to sport a FHD+ 6.4-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and come with a triple-camera setup. The tech giant had unveiled the Galaxy S20 FE in August last year.
